Four more new cases, with one in Hanoi linked to Da Nang

VOV.VN - Vietnam reported 4 more COVID-19 cases on August 6 morning, including three in the central province of Quang Nam and one in Hanoi which is linked to the outbreak of central Da Nang city.

Patient 714, a-42-year-old man, lives in Bac Tu Liem district of Hanoi and is a bus operator. The patient traveled to Da Nang with his family over the course from July 14-17. On July 19, the patient began to show symptoms of a mild fever and a sore throat. On August 4, he was admitted to the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Hanoi and was sampled for testing. His test result was later positive for SARS-CoV-2.

The remaining three patients aged 42-45 in Quang Nam, numbered 715, 716 and 717, are those who came into close contact with COVID-19 cases. They are currently being isolated for treatment at Quang Nam Central General Hospital.

With the latest update, Vietnam’s total positive cases now stands at 717, including 309 imported ones that has been quarantined upon entry, and 268 linked to the Da Nang outbreak since the first case of local transmission was found on July 25.

As many as 381 patients of the confirmed infections have fully recovered so far and eight died of underlying health issues and COVID-19.

Among the 328 active patients in treatment, 33 have tested negative for the coronavirus once or at least twice.

More than 170,457 who had contact with infected patients or came from pandemic-hit areas are now under quarantine and health observation.

Meanwhile recent meetings between municipal and provincial leaders with health authorities have underlined the need for all cities and provinces across the nation to swiftly carry out a score of stronger measures to contain the spread and mitigate the impact of the new coronavirus, which is evolving in a more complicated manner in the community.

All localities have been asked to prepare sufficient human resources and necessary facilities in case the COVID-19 pandemic spreads widely in the time to come.

Currently Da Nang still takes the top spot in the number of COVID-19 infections in the country with 192, followed by nearby Quang Nam province with 49. 

Hanoi now has three coronavirus cases after recording one more case associated with Da Nang hotspot.
