Forum to highlight youth role and development in ASEAN Community

VOV.VN - An international youth forum is scheduled to get underway in both in-person and virtual formats on November 29, to discuss and share experience in making development policies for young people in Southeast Asia.

The event will be attended by representatives in charge of youth affairs of the 10 AEAN member states (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam), and their three dialogue partners (China, the Republic of Korea and Japan).

Revealing information about the forum at a press conference held in Hanoi on November 22, a representative of the National Committee on Youth of Vietnam (NCYV) said delegates will examine the formulation and implementation of development policies for young people, relating to education and training, health care, start-ups and job creation, culture, sports, and volunteer work.

They will use the forum to share their experience in handling youth-related issues and duly make recommendations regarding ensuring the rights and interests of young people throughout the region whilst optimising their participation in tackling socio-economic affairs.

The forum will also be a prime opportunity for ASEAN member states and their partners (China, RoK, Japan) to promote mutual understanding through cultural exchanges and strengthen ties among young people.

The forum marks the first event of its kind to be organised by the NCYV, and it is scheduled to be held annually.
