Former President General Le Duc Anh remembered in Cuba

First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba Salvador Valdés Mesa on May 6 paid tribute to former President General Le Duc Anh at the Vietnamese Embassy in Havana.

In the funeral book, the Cuban leader wrote that the former Vietnamese President will be remembered forever as a close friend of Cuba, who worked hard to promote the historical friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

Talking to reporters afterwards, Valdés Mesa highlighted former President General Le Duc Anh’s valuable contributions to Vietnam’s revolutionary cause and expressed his belief that young generations of Vietnam and Cuba will follow his faithful revolutionary example in their national construction and defence process.

In his capacity as President of Vietnam from September 1992 to December 1997, General Le Duc Anh once paid an official visit to Cuba in October 1995.

The same day, dozens of delegations from ministries, sectors and social organisations of Cuba,diplomatic missions and the Vietnamese community in Cuba came to the embassy to pay paid homage to the late President. 

Former President General Le Duc Anh passed away on April 22 at the age of 99.
