Foreign vessel aids rescue of 11 Vietnamese fishermen in maritime incident
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) has successfully coordinated with a foreign vessel to rescue 11 fishermen from Quang Ninh who were in distress at sea.

At around 9:10 AM on June 19, the MRCC received an urgent report about the fishing vessel QN 80058 TS being capsized by large waves approximately 13-15 nautical miles north of Bach Long Vi Island. The area experienced rough sea conditions with high waves of over 2m, leaving 11 fishermen adrift in a highly dangerous situation.
Upon receiving the alert, the Centre requested the Coastal Information Station to broadcast warnings to vessels operating nearby, while mobilising a Coast Guard ship, a Navy ship, eight fishing boats, and several commercial vessels for the search and rescue mission.
Notably, the Centre also contacted foreign cargo ships in the region. The cargo ship STARSHIP TAURUS flagged in the Marshall Islands, en route from Ulsan, the Republic of Korea, to Hai Phong port promptly joined the rescue effort.
At around 11:30 AM, the STARSHIP TAURUS located the 11 fishermen approximately 10 nautical miles northwest of the accident site. The fishermen were brought onboard and provided with medical care. They were later transferred to the Coast Guard vessel CSB 2005, which transported them safely back to Ben Got port, Hai Phong.
The MRCC said it would continue to closely monitor the situation and collaborate with relevant agencies to assist the affected fishermen.
