Foreign sailors severely injured at sea rescued in Vietnam
VOV.VN - The Regional Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre No. 3 on September 8 took two foreign sailors seriously injured on board a Marshall Island-flagged cargo ship off Vietnam’s territorial waters to hospital for treatment.
Indian crew members Tribhuwanand Gunagi and Pratap Prakash suffered severe burns while working on the deck of the vessel Bfat Southern en route from Singapore to China.
At the time, the vessel was situated about 175 nautical miles southeast off the coast of Vung Tau (Vietnam).
The sailors’ conditions quickly worsened, prompting the ship’s captain to send a request for emergency rescue.
The centre then dispatched ship SAR 272 with doctors on board to Bfat Southern, provided medical first aid, and brought the two sickened crew members ashore.
After arriving in Vung Tau, the two Indian sailors were taken to the France-Vietnam Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City to receive further care and treatment.
