Foreign motorbike thieves arrested

Two foreigners, Ravi Barkash, 27, an Indian national, and Moon Atfri, 31, from America, were recently arrested and charged with stealing a motorbike, said the HCM City’s police.

Police report that at about midnight on March 21, Grabbike taxi driver L.D.T, 31, a resident of Nha Be district, received a service request on his smartphone.

T drove to the Vuon Thu Gian restaurant in the district’s Nguyen Huu Tho Street, where he saw two foreign men standing beside a Nouvo motorbike in front of the restaurant.

T was handing a helmet to one of the men when he was attacked with electronic pliers. He ran to a nearby area, where he reportedly fainted.
T woke up later and discovered his motorbike had been stolen. He reported the theft to the police.

By noon on March 21, the two suspects were located in a hotel on Le Van Luong Street in Nha Be district.

They were arrested on the night of March 24. T’s motorbike – whose license plate had been altered – and the electronic pliers, were found at the hotel.

The suspects admitted to committing the robbery. Police said Ravi Barkash had stolen the motorbike.
