Food poisoning hospitalizes over 60 people in Buon Ma Thuot
VOV.VN - More than 60 people have been hospitalized after eating bread at a restaurant in Buon Ma Thuot city in the central highlands province of Dak Lak on November 29, said Le Minh Thong, deputy head of the Food Safety and Hygiene Division under the Dak Lak Department of Health.
Le Minh Tu, adoctor from Thien Hanh Polyclinic, said the hospital started to admit the first wave of patients with symptoms of food poisoning such as bellyache, fever, nausea and diarrhea on November 28. Following this, 50 more patients who all exhibited similar symptoms were also taken to the hospital to receive emergency treatment. Currently, all patients remain in a stable condition.
The provincial health sector has set up a working group at the hospital to collect samples from the patients and take further samples of food from the bread restaurant in Phan Chu Trinh-Hoang Dieu crossroads, Buon Ma Thuot city.
All samples will be sent to the Tay Nguyen Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for testing in order to identify the cause of the incident.
The bread restaurant in Buon Ma Thuot has been popular amongst residents for many years and sells thousands of loaves of bread to the domestic market each day.
