Flood recovery efforts underway in central region

VOV.VN - At least 11 people have been reported dead or missing due to heavy downpours in localities across the central region over the past few days as local authorities have mobilized forces to get recovery operations underway in the aftermath of the rain and flooding.

The recent rainfall and flooding to hit the central region has left at least 11 people dead or missing including five people reportedly swept away in Phu My district, Binh Dinh province.

High tides and rising water levels have caused landslides in coastal areas and in the districts of Phu Vang and Phu Loc in Thua Thien Hue province. The hardest hit areas have been coastal areas such as Vinh Hai commune in Phu Loc district, which has affected the lives of hundreds of residents. 
Local authorities in Vinh Hai commune use sandbags to build temporary protection.
 
Many restaurants and homes of residents along the coastal area of Vinh Hai are at risk of collapsing.
A section of the coastal area in Vinh Hai commune has been destroyed by high tides, causing landslides.
The Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula in Da Nang City have installed signposts to warn residents and tourists of potential landslide sites.
Relevant forces have been mobilized to clean up rocks and debris to ease transport infrastructure.
 
Landslides on the roads to Son Tra Peninsula have caused severe traffic congestion.
