Five bodies found following helicopter crash in Northern Vietnam

VOV.VN - Five bodies in a recent helicopter crash in Ha Long Bay have been recovered, two days after the incident occurred in the sea between Hai Phong city and Quang Ninh province, north of Vietnam.

Parts of the fifth and last victim, 60-year-old Nguyen Thi Hoi, were discovered on April 7 morning by rescue forces. Hoi was the wife of Ho Ta Luc who was also killed in the tragic crash.

The search and rescue operation has yet to come to an end as worker are trying to recover the remaining parts of Hoi's body.

The bodies of the pilot and three other victims were found on April 5 and 6.

The Bell-505 helicopter, owned by the Northern Vietnam Helicopter Company under the Vietnam Helicopter Corporation, got in an accident at about 5:06 p.m. on April 5 in the sea area between Hai Phong and Quang Ninh. When the incident happened, it was carrying four Vietnamese tourists on a sightseeing tour of Ha Long Bay.

Over the last two days, more than 500 officers, soldiers, and dozens of vessels have been mobilised for search and rescue activities.

Quang Ninh has given financial support to the victims’ families.  

The Vietnam Helicopter Corporation has also postponed all helicopter sightseeing tours in localities following the incident.
