First monkeypox case to be discharged from hospital on Oct. 14
VOV.VN - The first patient who was infected with the monkeypox virus is scheduled to be discharged on October 14 after three weeks of treatment and quarantine in hospital.
The female patient, 35, has fully recovered from the illness with negative tests for the virus and met conditions to return home, said Huynh Thi Thuy Hoa, a doctor of Ho Chi Minh Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
Those who had contact with the patient have yet to show any clinical symptoms, said the doctor.
The Ministry of Health confirmed on October 3 that a woman returning from Dubai has infected with the monkeypox virus, the first case recorded in Vietnam.
The woman hailing from Ho Chi Minh City was said to have caught the illness in Dubai during her holiday from July to September 22 before returning to the home country.
She was transferred to Ho Chi Minh Hospital for Tropical Diseases for quarantine and treatment following her positive test on September 23.
