First Mekong Delta medical center receives AACI accreditation

VOV.VN - Nam Can Tho University Medical Center has become the first medical facility in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region to receive international healthcare accreditation under US-based AACI standards.

The medical center was awarded certification by the American Accreditation Commission International (AACI) following a comprehensive evaluation covering patient safety, clinical capacity, quality management, facilities, medical equipment and a patient-centred care approach. It achieved AACI accreditation on November 9, 2025, scoring 92.16% against the organisation’s quality standards.

Addressing the announcement ceremony on December 15, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, vice chairwoman of Can Tho municipal People’s Committee congratulated Nam Can Tho University Medical Center on the accreditation, which she said help strengthen the facility's reputation and reinforce the city’s role as a regional healthcare hub in the Mekong Delta.

The administration of Can Tho always creates favourable conditions for medical facilities, including Nam Can Tho University Medical Center, to develop sustainably, contributing to the effective implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution No. 72 on public health care, she affirmed.

In his remarks, Associate Professor, Dr. Dam Van Cuong, Director of Nam Can Tho University Medical Center, shared that he AACI certification reflects the institution’s commitment to delivering safe, high-quality healthcare services in line with international standards.

AACI is one of the world’s leading healthcare accreditation bodies, with headquarters in the United States and offices in several countries. Its accreditation standards have been recognised by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) since 2014 and are widely applied across healthcare services globally.
