Fire destroys over 300 shops at Phu Ly Market
(VOV) - More than 300 shops were gutted as a fire tore through the Phu Ly Market in Ha Nam Province on December 31, according to fire officials.

10 fire and rescue vehicles and over 100 fire and other emergency personnel rushed to the site of the blaze that broke out at 1 am. |

It took until 5 am for them to get the fire under control. |

Shopkeepers desperately tried in vain to shift stock to other places but were quickly overwhelmed by the massive blaze and left to stand by idly and watch as their stores went up in smoke. |

The damages are expected to be huge as traders had recently stocked up for the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday. |

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze. |
