Fetal cardiac intervention technique wins Vietnam Medical Achievement Award
VOV.VN - Following two successfully fetal cardiac interventions conducted by Tu Du Hospital in collaboration with Children's Hospital 1, the technique has received the Vietnam Medical Achievement Award, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health.
This marks the fourth consecutive year that the Vietnam Medical Achievement Award has been held, with the event aiming to honour advanced medical projects and high technology applications carried out by Vietnamese physicians in providing health check-ups for people.
The jury panel of the 2023 Vietnam Medical Achievement Award has received a total of 86 medical entries from 42 medical stations from Thu Duc city and hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, and Hau Giang.
The judging panel has presented the award to the Tu Du Hospital and the Children's Hospital 1 for the technique of fetal cardiac intervention in order to save the life of a fetus with severe heart abnormalities.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that these are new advancements in fetal cardiac intervention by Vietnamese doctors, which are on par with developed countries in the region.
In fact, only a few countries in the world such as Brazil and Poland have successfully performed the surgery, while other regional countries such as Singapore and Thailand have not yet implemented the fetal cardiac intervention technique.
