FAO supports Da Nang rice centre establishment
The UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) will continue supporting the establishment of a rice seed production hub in central Danang City.
FAO representative Bae Jong-ha announced the information at a meeting with the city officials on August 13.
He said FAO will help develop the centre in Hoa Tien commune as a major rice variety centre for the city and the central coastal region.
The project will help strengthen the production capacity of the commune and increase its ability to expand its market.
The project, which has been supported by the India-Brazil-South Africa Dialogue Forum (IBSA) Fund for four crops during 2012-14 with a total budged of US$529.000 will be put into operation from September.
