Fallen soldiers in Gac Ma battle commemorated

VOV.VN - Representatives of Naval Region 4 have paid tribute to the naval personnel who laid down their lives defending Gac Ma Reef in Truong Sa (Spratly) 36 years ago.

On March 14, 1988, 64 officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Navy fell down while standing in a circle defending the national flag planted on Gac Ma Reef. 

After the incense offering ceremony, the delegation released a wreath and offerings, along with paper cranes and lanterns to remember the heroic martyrs.

Lieutenant Colonel Bui Van Que, Deputy Political Commissar of Naval Region 4 reiterated the naval force’s determination to protect national sovereignty over seas and islands in any circumstances.
