Exhibition on 80 years of Vietnam’s development draws record 4 million visitors

An exhibition themed “80 Years of Journey: Independence – Freedom – Happiness,” held at the Vietnam Exposition Centre in Hanoi, attracted approximately 4 million visitors from August 28 to September 2, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported on September 3. This marked a record turnout unprecedented for any exhibition in Vietnam.
On its opening day, August 28, the exhibition welcomed over 230,000 visitors, with attendance rising to 300,000, 650,000, and 800,000 in the following three days. September 1 saw about 1.05 million visitors, followed by 900,000 on September 2, the sixth day of the event.
In response to public demand, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh approved an extension of the exhibition until September 15, instead of the originally planned closing date of September 5, giving more people the opportunity to experience the event in celebration of the 80th National Day on September 2.
The largest exhibition ever held in Vietnam brought together 28 ministries and centrally-run agencies, 34 provinces and centrally-run cities, and more than 110 major enterprises and corporations, displaying their offerings across over 230 booths. The exhibition features various themed zones highlighting the nation’s achievements in politics, culture, economy, defence, and aerospace.
To enhance visitors’ experiences, the organizing committee arranged 20 free shuttle buses and two tram routes within the area, alongside two outdoor food courts in the North and West courtyards with more than 114 booths, four indoor food courts, and 12 information booths.
On average, around 100 events and experiential activities take place daily, allowing visitors to enjoy robot performances, culinary demonstrations, hot air balloon and kite displays, handicraft exhibitions, traditional art performances by troupes from across the country, and seminars spanning multiple fields.
