Eight new drugs uncovered in Vietnam
VOV.VN - The Criminal Science Institute under the Ministry of Public Security has recently discovered eight new illicit drugs in Vietnam, all of which are not on the country’s list of banned substances.
The newly-banned substances include 1eP-LDS, 2-FMA, 3-FEA, 3-MMC, MDMB-4en-PINACA, ADB-BUTINACA, 4F-MDMB-BUTICA, and 4F-ABUTINACA.
According to the Institute, the substances have not yet been made available in the database as new drugs are constantly being made.
Dang Van Toan, deputy director of the Criminal Science Institute, cites the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), saying a new drug is typically detected once every week to 10 days.
He therefore notes that the trend of developing new drugs both domestically and internationally remains very complicated, causing an array of difficulties in relation to the inspection and fight against this type of crime.
To prevent the spread of these narcotics, as well as to improve the effectiveness of local drug assessments, Toan says it is necessary to focus on combating drug smuggling issues which take place along borders.
The country must add further drug reference standards in order to improve inspections and yield better results in the fight against drug crime, he suggests.
