Education sector urged to achieve breakthroughs in new academic year
VOV.VN - President Luong Cuong has sent a heartfelt letter to the education sector on the occasion of the opening of the 2025–2026 academic year, expressing warm wishes and expectations for transformative progress in education in line with the Politburo’s newly issued Resolution No. 71 on breakthrough development in education and training.

In the letter, the President emphasises that the 2025–2026 academic year holds particular significance as it marks the first school year after the nationwide completion of administrative unit restructuring and implementation of a two-tier local government model. And importantly, it is the first year of implementing Resolution 71, which outlines a strategic roadmap for a new phase of educational reform.
Under the theme “Discipline – Innovation – Breakthrough – Development”, the President hopes that the education sector will take the lead in translating Resolution 71 into concrete programmes and action plans; focus on building a high-quality teaching workforce and reforming school governance models; and prioritise comprehensive education, especially in ethics, character, life skills, and nurturing ambition in the younger generation.
In addition, the education sector is tasked with accelerating digital transformation, modernising teaching methods, and building safe, inclusive, and forward-thinking learning environments.
President Cuong praises the sector’s notable achievements in the past school year, including the successful rollout of the new national general education curriculum from grades 1 to 12; improved quality across all educational levels; and outstanding performance by Vietnamese students in international and regional academic competitions, helping to enhance the country’s reputation in global education.
To teachers and education administrators, the President conveys his belief that they will remain passionate, innovative, and committed to fulfilling the ambitious goals set out in Resolution 71.
To students and learners, he expresses confidence that the new generation will continue nurturing dreams, studying diligently, and becoming responsible, compassionate, and capable citizens ready to contribute to the nation's progress.
He also calls on parents to continue working closely with schools and the broader community in supporting the growth of future generations.
The President also urges Party committees, government agencies, and relevant ministries at all levels to strengthen policy support and investment in education, ensuring the best possible conditions for teaching, learning, and holistic student development in line with Resolution 71.
Concluding the letter, the President believes that with strong political will and a spirit of bold innovation, the education sector will make steady strides forward, helping Vietnam rise in the new era and fulfil the cherished aspiration of President Ho Chi Minh for the country to stand shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the five continents.
