Duong River Surface Water Plant to turn on the tap in Oct
VOV.VN - The first phase of the Duong River Surface Water Plant with a daily capacity of 150,000 cu m, will enter operation in October 2018, according to a statement from the project’s investor at a recent meeting with Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung.
At the meeting, a representative of the Duong River Surface Water Plant JSC reported on the progress of the project to Hanoi leaders.
Chairman Chung said the implementation of the project is of significance, as it plays an important role in improving a sustainable water system capable of meeting Hanoi’s demand for stable and long-term water supply.
According to the project management board, the plant has an investment capital of VND4,998 billion and is being built on an area of nearly 61.5ha in two communes of Phu Dong and Trung Mau in Gia Lam district. It is designed to supply clean water to the north-east areas of Hanoi including Long Bien, Gia Lam, Dong Anh, and Soc Son districts and to urban areas and industrial zones along Road 179 as well as the southern part of the capital city including Hoang Mai, Thanh Tri, Thuong Tin, and Phu Xuyen districts and to the neighbouring provinces of Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, and Hai Duong.
Do Thi Kim Lien, Chairwoman of Duong River Surface Water Plant JSC, said the building of an adequate clean water supply network for the outskirts of the capital city will have a positive impact on urban migration levels thus encouraging resettlement in satellite urban areas, helping to ease inner-city traffic congestion.
