Drug trafficker caught with 3.5kg of heroin at Vietnamese-Lao border

Anti-drug police in the northwestern mountainous province of Dien Bien on April 5 arrested a drug trafficker carrying about 3.5 kilogrammes of heroin.

The trafficker was Thao A Khua, born in 1999, who transported the heroin from the Lao border area to Vietnam for sale.

According to Colonel Pham Duy Canh, head of the provincial anti-drug squad, the case is part of an operation to crack down on transnational drug trafficking rings in the locality.

Two months earlier, a drug trafficker from Khua’s clan used firearms to fight back against authorities.

Further investigations are being carried out.
