Dong Nai police crack ring organizing illegal stay for foreign nationals
VOV.VN - Police in Dong Nai City announced on October 20 that they have concluded an investigation into a major immigration ring.
The case dossier has been transferred to the People's Procuracy to recommend the prosecution of the defendants involved in organizing illegal entry and residence, along with related high-tech financial fraud and gambling offenses.
During administrative inspections of accommodation facilities in Tran Bien and Tam Hiep wards, police in Dong Nai uncovered a total of 43 foreign nationals residing illegally without proper entry papers or temporary residence declarations. Expanding the investigation, the Security Investigation Agency determined that Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh (born 1996) and her romantic partner Li Kun, a Chinese national, played key orchestration roles in securing apartments and houses to shelter the foreigners.
Police also uncovered related criminal activities during the probe. Linh and her accomplices used electronic devices to misappropriate 1,090.21 USDT, equivalent to about US$1,120, by luring US citizens into investing in a fraudulent Tesla charging station scheme, with officers seizing multiple computers, mobile phones, and tablets. Additionally, three other Chinese nationals discovered during the same period faced prosecution for illegal gambling.
On July 6, 2026, the Security Investigation Agency of Dong Nai City Police issued a decision to prosecute and detain Li Kun, while initiating legal proceedings against Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh for organizing illegal residence for others.
The investigative body has finalized the investigation report and transferred the case to the local People's Procuracy to propose the indictment of the defendants in accordance with the law.
