Dolphin spotted in Ha Long Bay
VOV.VN - Bui Trong Anh, a staff member of Essence Grand Cruise, recently recorded footage of a dolphin swimming near Luon Cave of Bo Hon Island in Ha Long Bay, northern Quang Ninh province.
According to Anh, his video clip, recorded at about 7 a.m. on March 29, shows a dolphin appearing for about 10 minutes before diving back into the sea.
Earlier, two dolphins were sighted on March 27 in the waters of Van Don island near Ao Tien Port.
The waters surrounding Co To island of Quang Ninh have often been frequented by schools of dolphins and whales, capturing the attention of local fishermen and authorities.
Local authorities are committed to protecting the ecological environment; safeguarding forests, natural resources, and marine ecosystems; and collecting and processing ocean waste, with a view to making Co To a plastic-free and sustainable tourist destination. The locality has also prohibited visitors from bringing single-use plastic items.
Thanks to these efforts, the local marine environment has vastly improved, with rare animals such as sea turtles, dolphins, and whales reappearing near the shore after many years of absence, and coral reefs beginning to thrive once again.
