DOE pressing employers to register foreign workers before deadline

The Director-General of the Department of Employment has pressed employers to comply with labor laws.

Department of Employment (DOE) Director-General, Anurak Tossarat indicated that over 300,000 foreign workers have so far been recorded in the three provinces of Samut Sakhon, Petchburi and Prachuapkirikan and employers in the areas have been urged to properly register the workers.

A report on the effort to have all the foreign laborers registered is to be presented to the Cabinet during its retreat to the three provinces scheduled for this March 5 and 6. The DOE will until then be continuing a campaign to have employers comply with all labor laws.

Business operators are reminded that they can register their foreign employees at One Stop Service centers, which are available until June 30. Full assistance is being provided by the DOE for migrant laborers to comply with the procedure.

Anurak underlined that once the deadline is reached, foreign workers that aren’t registered won't be allowed to work in Thailand and no leniency will be provided for them or their employers.
