Dien Bien Phu-Nguyen Tri Phuong tunnel opens to traffic ahead of APEC
VOV.VN - The road tunnel at the junction of Dien Bien Phu and Nguyen Tri Phuong streets opened to traffic on November 1. This is one of the key projects serving the APEC Summit 2017 scheduled for Nov. 6-11 in the central coastal city of Danang.

The provincial People’s Committee held a ceremony on November 1 to open the Dien Bien Phu-Nguyen Tri Phuong-Le Do road tunnel. |

The road tunnel project was implemented by contractors Thuan An Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company, and Thang Long Corporation with a total investment capital of VND118 billion. |

Construction of the project began in December 2016 with the tunnel’s total length reaching 432 metres. |

At the ceremony, Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, vice chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee commended the great efforts of the contractors in putting the road tunnel into operation, helping to reduce traffic jams from Hue junction to the city centre. |

Mr Tuan stressed that the event is of great significance,as Vietnam is making thorough preparations for the APEC Summit 2017, noting that the event is a good opportunity to promote a civilized and modern city to international friends. |

This is the second road tunnel in Da Nang and one of the key projects to connect Hue junction, Da Nang airport to the city centre. |

Despite the rain after the ribbon cutting ceremony, hundreds of local residents are eager to go through the new road tunnel. A local resident says the tunnel will help reduce traffic congestion at peak hours. |

Some work remains to be finished on the tunnel, such as painting and decorating the roller and bridge. |
