Deputy PM: VOV must be a strong multimedia agency

VOV.VN -The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) should take responsible, determined and creative steps to keep abreast with the world's modern communication trend toward developing into a nationally and internationally strong multimedia communication group.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam made the remarks at a February 27 meeting in Hanoi with leaders, reporters, editors and technicians of VOV and VTC Digital Television on the occasion of lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

The Deputy PM said VOV has well performed its political task of disseminating Party and State guidelines and policies, serving as a pragmatic bridge between the government and people.

In his address, VOV President Nguyen The Ky said with the merger of VTC digital television, VOV now has more than 3,100 staff and is the only media agency in Vietnam covering four platforms of media: radio, TV, print, and online, including 8 radio channels, 17 television channels, VOV.VN online newspaper and VOV print newspaper.

VOV pledges to fully exploit all resources with a focus on adopting advanced technology in imparting information to the public at home and abroad, the top VOV leader said.
