Dengue fever cases near 45,000 as rainy season raises outbreak risk

VOV.VN - The number of dengue fever cases has increased considerably since late 2025, as health authorities warn of increased outbreak risk during the upcoming rainy season.

Dengue fever cases have reached 44,965 nationwide, with 5 deaths reported since December 14, 2025, according to the Ministry of Health. In April alone, 6,408 new infections and one fatality were recorded.

The number of four-month infections is 1.8 times higher than the same period in 2025, while deaths have increased by two cases.

Health authorities forecast that dengue infections may continue to rise in the coming period, particularly during peak rainy months. Early onset of hot and humid weather, combined with household water storage practices in some areas, has created favourable conditions for mosquito breeding.

Although the situation is being closely monitored, authorities warn that case numbers could continue to climb if preventive measures are not implemented consistently and widely.

The health sector is coordinating with local governments to monitor outbreaks, respond to hotspots, and strengthen public awareness campaigns.

People are advised to regularly eliminate mosquito breeding sites, cover water containers, and protect themselves from mosquito bites. Even simple weekly preventive actions can significantly reduce transmission risks and protect community health.
