Dengue fever cases drop in Ho Chi Minh City

VOV.VN - The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC) stated on February 15 that the southern city had recorded a total of 385 cases of dengue fever between February 6 and February 12, with this figure marking a decline of 32.5% compared to the average number in the four weeks prior.

The number of dengue cases have therefore decreased in terms of both inpatients and outpatients, whilst there have been no deaths caused by dengue during the reviewed period.

According to data released by the HCDC, the number of dengue cases continues to fall in 18 out of 22 districts in comparison to the average recorded in the four weeks prior. Meanwhile, five out of 312 districts and wards recorded a higher number of cases.

Furthermore, the southern city also documented an additional 28 new outbreaks of dengue fever in 22 wards across 10 of the 22 districts and Thu Duc city. Since the beginning of this year, Ho Chi Minh City has recorded 3,496 cases of dengue fever, 2.2 times higher compared to the same period from last year.

Regarding hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD), last week, the city reported 52 cases, up 4% compared to the average from the previous four weeks. The number of cases duly increased in both inpatients and outpatients, whilst there were no new outbreaks of HFMD recorded during this period.
