Death anniversary of the Hung Kings commemorated abroad

VOV.VN - Vietnamese expats across the world organised ceremonies on the weekend to commemorate the death anniversary of the Hung Kings, the legendary founders of Vietnam. Notable events were held in Ukraine, Malaysia, and Switzerland.

The Vietnamese association in Kharkiv province, Ukraine, held a ceremony to pay tribute to the Hung Kings on April 13, the ninth day of the third lunar month.
The Hung Kings memorial day has become a popular occasion worldwide for the Vietnamese expat community, especially since the annual event was recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2012.
Celebrations to mark the Hung Kings’ death anniversary have been held in Ukraine for several years. The celebrations help to promote solidarity among Vietnamese expats and allow their foreign friends to gain a deeper insight into the rituals that take place throughout the holiday.

The Vietnamese embassy in Malaysia organised a get-together on April 12 to observe the Hung Kings’ death anniversary. Speaking at the event, Le Quy Quynh, the Vietnamese ambassador to Malaysia, stressed the contributions made by the Hung Kings to the country as founders of the early nation state, previously known as Van Lang.

A ceremony held in honour of the Hung Kings took place in Switzerland on April 14, the tenth day of the third lunar month. Le Linh Lan, the Vietnamese ambassador to Switzerland, says the event provides a chance for overseas Vietnamese to meet each other, pay tribute to the country’s ancestors, and strengthen their solidarity.
Delegates take part in the event’s ceremonies.
