Daily tally falls sharply by nearly 1,400, more than 2,000 recover from virus

VOV.VN - Vietnam has seen a constant fall in the number of new daily COVID-19 infections, with 3,717 confirmed on May 1, marking a drop of 1,391 cases from the previous day, according to the Health Ministry.

Three localities top the daily case list, including Hanoi with 795 new cases, Nghe An with 219 infections, and Yen Bai with 200 cases.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Vietnam has  documented a total of 10,653,526 infections, ranking 12 out of 227 countries and territories, while with the ratio of infections per million people, the nation ranks 104 out of 227 countries and territories , with 107,686 infections for every 1 million people.

The average number of new cases in the country over the past seven days has stood at 6,552 a day, while the national death rate has been at a daily average of 4.

The Health Ministry also confirmed a further 2,111 recoveries on the same day, thereby taking the total number of recovered cases up to over 9.2 million.

A further 4 casualties were also confirmed over the past 24 hours to raise the country’s death toll to more than 43,000.

As of April 30, the country had injected 214,939,202 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including more than 1.52 million doses given to children aged 5 to 11 years.
