Da Nang readies for key APEC week
The central coastal city of Da Nang is focusing all resources to complete preparations for the APEC Summit Week in November, including infrastructure, urban decoration, security-health and communication campaigns.
A parking lot is on standby at Da Nang International Airport for large delegations while electricity safety will be ensured for the APEC Media Centre. The APEC logo, power and water systems as well as landscape of the APEC park will be installed before October 25.
Relevant forces will be on standby to address unexpected situations during the event.
The municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment will mobilise equipment to clean up the city, while road construction work must be halted during November 5-11.
Local departments have also been directed to prepare plans to ensure security and safety during the event.
Deputy Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Popularisation and Education Bui Xuan said that the APEC Summit Week is a significant event and a chance for Da Nang to promote its image as a proactive, peaceful, potential and friendly city to international friends.
It will also opens new development opportunities for the city, he said.
Established in 1989, APEC comprises 21 economies, including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the US, and Vietnam.
