VOV.VN - The central city of Da Nang is set to host an annual Vietnam-Republic of Korea (RoK) festival in an effort to boost cultural exchanges, promote greater investment, and develop tourism, trade, health care, and education.

Le Trung Chinh, chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, released this information during a reception held on March 9 for Ahn Min-sik, the Consul General of the RoK in Da Nang.

Chinh noted that both countries share various cultural similarities, with Da Nang emerging as a popular destination for tourists from the RoK.

He also expressed his gratitude for the support offered by Anh to firms and citizens of Da Nang in recent times, especially during the country’s ongoing fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) largely being brought under control in Da Nang, local authorities are now redoubling efforts to address bottlenecks faced by businesses, whilst speeding up administrative procedure reforms to boost the central city’s economic recovery and development, he said.

In response, the Korean diplomat said that over 90% of the 8,000 investors from the RoK which operate in the nation can be found in northern and southern regions.

Therefore, the RoK Government remains keen to boost development and co-operation in the central region and Da Nang city in particular, he added.

With greater co-operation their motivation, the Korean Consulate General will work alongside Da Nang city on investment promotion, IT training, smart city building, and tourism moving into the post-pandemic period, he said.

The RoK is now considering holding a RoK-Vietnam business conference in Da Nang later this year, either in-person or online. Anh also voiced his hope that the central city will outline the content of the planned Vietnam-RoK festival in order to enable it become annual cultural exchanges.
