Da Nang airport retains Skytrax 5-Star terminal rating for third consecutive year
VOV.VN - The international passenger terminal T2 at Da Nang International Airport has retained its Skytrax 5-Star Airport Terminal Rating in 2026, marking the third consecutive year the terminal has achieved the highest global distinction for airport terminals.
According to the latest annual assessment by Skytrax, Terminal T2 continues to deliver high standards across key service areas, including terminal comfort, cleanliness, passenger information systems, and overall customer experience.
The rating reflects consistent service quality and a well-managed passenger journey, with strong performance across the terminal environment and facilities as well as digital and support services.
However, the assessment also highlighted increasing pressure from rapid passenger growth, particularly during peak hours, which may impact service delivery if infrastructure expansion is not implemented in a timely manner.
In 2025, Terminal T2 handled more than 6.8 million passengers, exceeding its original design capacity of 4 million passengers per year by over 70%. The surge in traffic has placed significant pressure on operational capacity and service quality.
In response, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT), the terminal operator, is implementing a plan to increase capacity from 4 million to 6 million passengers annually in the coming years.
AHT Deputy Director General Do Trong Hau said maintaining the 5-star rating for three consecutive years presents a significant challenge amid rising passenger volumes and growing expectations for service excellence.
He emphasised that expanding the terminal is essential to sustaining international service standards and reinforcing Da Nang’s position as a key international aviation gateway.
Alongside capacity expansion, the operator is also working to develop the terminal into an experience-driven space by integrating local cultural elements into the passenger journey. Planned initiatives include art exhibitions, live performances, and heritage touchpoints throughout the terminal.
