Da Nang and Chemnitz boost cooperation in high-tech, semiconductors and AI

VOV.VN - Officials, businesses and research institutions from Da Nang and Chemnitz (Germany) gathered in the central Vietnamese city on March 30 to strengthen cooperation in high-tech industries, particularly semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI) and green technology.

The meeting, organised by the Da Nang Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence Centre (DSAC), brought together more than 50 delegates, including leaders from both cities as well as representatives from universities, research institutes, organisations and technology enterprises.

Speaking at the meeting, Ho Quang Buu, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, welcomed the Chemnitz delegation and business representatives, noting that their presence reflects a strong commitment to cooperation in high technology, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and green technology. He emphasised that both cities have significant potential to build a partnership grounded in mutual understanding, respect, and shared development goals.

According to the official, Da Nang is positioning itself as a key hub for innovation, high technology and information technology in central Vietnam. The city is also advancing major strategic infrastructure projects, including Software Park No. 2, a free trade zone linked to Lien Chieu Port, and an international financial centre.

Recent special policy mechanisms approved by the National Assembly are expected to further enhance Da Nang’s attractiveness to strategic investors. The city aims to expand cooperation in training, technology transfer, and deeper integration of businesses from both sides into global value chains.

“We are committed to improving the investment environment, upgrading infrastructure and providing favourable conditions for enterprises and investors from Chemnitz and Germany to pursue long-term cooperation in Da Nang,” Buu said, adding that the city will continue to support and accompany businesses in overcoming challenges.

Meanwhile, Sven Schulze, Lord Mayor of Chemnitz, pointed out that the two cities share similar development orientations, particularly in high-tech industries and sustainable growth. Chemnitz is a major industrial and technology centre in the state of Saxony, while Da Nang is emerging as a regional hub for semiconductors, AI and green technology.

He also highlighted the role of the Vietnamese community in Chemnitz in fostering connections and promoting cooperation between the two sides.

He expressed his hope to further deepen and expand cooperation not only at the governmental level but also among businesses, research institutions, and related organisations, noting that the meeting provides an important opportunity to open new, practical, and effective avenues for future collaboration.

During the programme, both sides presented their strengths and development strategies in high-tech sectors, discussed cooperation opportunities, and shared insights on AI-integrated robotics for elderly care. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed between Fraunhofer ENAS, DSAC and DSAI-TECH.
