Cyber security at heart of Vietnam information security day

Various activities will be held under the theme “new era of cyber security” in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from November 15 to December 5 as part of Vietnam Information Security Day.

A highlight in the event is international seminars slated for November 17 in HCM City and December 2 in Hanoi. It is expected to attract representatives from large global enterprises who will share their experience in ensuring information security, according to the Vietnam Information Security Association.

At the seminars, the association will release a report on information security in the country over the past year and the 2016 Vietnam Information Security Index.

Meanwhile, the Authority of Information Security under the Ministry of Information and Communications will present new policies.

The ministry will also issue its assessment of the domestic and global information security situation and introduce orientations for information technology and information security development.

Nguyen Huy Dung, Deputy Director of the authority, said the seminar organisers will select high-quality information security services in 2016. The results will be announced next June.

During the annual event, roundtable workshops will take place with a focus on policy reforms and technology innovation in information security.

The Ministry of Education and Training will also present prizes from an information security competition for university students.-
