Cross-border drug smuggler arrested in Ha Tinh
VOV.VN - Police operating at the Cau Treo international border gate in Ha Tinh province have arrested a Vietnamese citizen allegedly smuggling a large quantity of drugs from Laos into Vietnam.
The suspect has been identified as 37-year-old Tran Ngoc Nam of An Hai Bac ward in Son Tra district of Da Nang city.
Nam was caught red handed at national road 8A in Son Kim commune of Huong Son district in Ha Tinh province while he was attempting to illegally smuggle drugs from Laos into the country.
Authorities seized eight kg of Ketamine, three kg of Methamphetamine, in addition to other related exhibits.
Nam confessed that he was hired by a Lao man to transport the drugs from Cau Treo border gate to Hai Phong city.
The case is currently being further investigated by authorised agencies.
