COVID-19: Vietnam’s infection tally rises to 1,306

VOV.VN - Another Vietnamese returnee from overseas has been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing Vietnam’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 1,306, according to the Ministry of Health on November 21.

The patient, a 38-year-old man of Ho Chi Minh City, returned to Vietnam from Germany on VN5036 flight on November 19.

He was placed in quarantine in Quang Ninh province, northern Vietnam, as soon as the plane landed at Van Don International Airport.

He was transferred to Hanoi-based Hospital of Tropical Diseases for medical observation and treatment after testing positive for the virus on November 20.

Another Vietnamese citizen, 38, returning on the same flight from Germany was announced to have contracted the virus on November 20.

As of 18.00hrs November 21, Vietnam has recorded a total of 1,306 coronavirus cases, including 1,142 recoveries and 35 deaths.

The remaining 129 cases are in stable health condition, with 25 cases having tested negative at least once.

Vietnam has gone through 80 consecutive days without locally transmitted cases being detected.  

Elsewhere, the world has so far registered more than 58 million cases, including nearly 1.4 million deaths.
