COVID-19: Vietnam reports zero new local infections over 10 days

VOV.VN - Vietnam has gone 10 consecutive days without recording any fresh cases of local transmission, keeping the national tally at 1,060, the Ministry of Health said on September 12.

Of the registered patient, 691 are cases of local transmission, and 369 cases are imported and placed into isolation immediately upon arrival.

The number of infections linked to the outbreak in the central city of Da Nang since the resurgence of the virus in late July stands at 551.

The same day, the total number of recovery cases rose to 910 after a further eight coronavirus patients were discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the disease.

There have been 35 deaths from the disease to date, with most of them being the elderly suffering serious underlying health conditions.

Among the active patients in treatment, 16 have tested negative for the novel coronavirus once, 17 twice, and 21 three times.

There are more than 35,390 people in quarantine throughout the country after they came into close contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases or they have recently returned from pandemic-hit areas.

Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Health has issued an urgent dispatch asking the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the People’s Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to direct the implementation of SARS-CoV-2 testing for foreigners living and working in Vietnam and Vietnamese citizens wishing to go abroad for work or study who require a certificate stating they are free of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Those providing testing services are responsible for carrying testing and issuing certificates to individuals and organizations.

They must also take quarantine measures for those testing positive and report to competent agencies in order to implement countermeasures in line with regulations regarding COVID-19 prevention and control.
