COVID-19: Vietnam registers two imported cases on Dec. 13

VOV.VN - Vietnam reported two more imported cases of the coronavirus on Dec. 14, raising the country’s tally of coronavirus infections to 1,397.

Both patients are Vietnamese citizens who landed at Da Nang International Airport from Japan on Nov.28 and the Republic of Korea on Dec. 1, the Ministry of Health said in its 18.00hrs update.

They were quarantined as soon as they landed at the airport, thus posing no risk to the community.

The two tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on Dec. 12 and were immediately transferred to Da Nang Lung Hospital for medical observation and treatment.

Vietnam has so far recorded a total of 1,397 coronavirus cases, including 704 imported cases.

Over the past months, Vietnamese airlines have constantly repatriated Vietnamese nationals left stranded overseas due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The number of infections is expected to increase further as more repatriation flights will be conducted in the coming time.

In addition, some of foreign experts entering Vietnam to work were also detected to carry the virus.

Currently nearly 20,000 people who had contact with COVID-19 patients or entered Vietnam are being placed in quarantine across the country.

As many as 1,241 COVID-19 patients have gone on to make a full recovery and have been released from hospital.

The number of death toll caused by COVID-19 and underlying illnesses remains at 35.
