COVID-19: Vietnam confirms seven imported cases, total hits 1,358

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health on December 2 reported the discovery of a further seven imported cases of COVID-19, raising the overall number of active cases nationwide 1,358, while the recoveries total 1,201.

Among the new patients, six are Vietnamese citizens who returned the country from Russia, France, the US and the Philippines and one is an Indian national who entered Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates. All the new patients were put into quarantine immediately upon arrival.

The same day, six more coronavirus patients were declared free from the novel coronavirus, raising the total national recoveries to 1,201.

Of the overall figure, 693 cases were caused by local transmission, including 551 linked with central Da Nang city following a COVID-19 outbreak which hit the city in July.

There have been 35 people dying from complications related to the disease. Most of the fatalities were made up of elderly individuals or those suffering from serious underlying health conditions.

Among the patients currently receiving treatment, five have tested negative for the virus once, three have tested negative twice, whilst 10 have tested negative three times. At present, there are no COVID-19 patients in critical condition in health facilities.

There are more than 15,500 people who came into close contact with confirmed cases or arrived in the nation from pandemic-hit regions are currently in quarantine for medical observation nationwide.

With the ongoing complicated nature of the COVID-19 after a number of locally-transmitted cases were detected in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Health has continued to advise people to strictly comply with pandemic prevention and control regulations such as wearing face masks in crowded places, washing their hands with soap or hand sanitiser regularly, avoiding large gatherings, and maintaining a distance from each other, and completing health declarations.
