COVID-19: Vietnam confirms no fresh case with 592 recoveries

VOV.VN - The total number of coronavirus cases in Vietnam remained at 1,029 with no more new patients reported during the past 12 hours, while 592 COVID-19 patients were declared to be free from the virus, said the Ministry of Health on August 26 morning.

The national tally included 687 locally-transmitted cases, with 547 linked to the Da Nang coronavirus hotspot since July 25.

By now, the total number of recovered patients rose to 592 after four more COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospital after making a full recovery on August 25.

Among the patients under treatment throughout the nation, 53 have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus once, 67 negative twice and 47 negative thrice.

Over 71,820 people are being in quarantine for health monitoring, including more than 1,960 at hospitals, 20,237 at concentrated isolation facilities and the rest at home.

According to the Ministry of Health, of the 406 coronavirus patients under treatment so far, 30 are diagnosed with severe prognosis, and 15 are critically ill and at a greater risk of death.

Vietnam has to date recorded a total of 27 fatalities related to the novel coronavirus. The majority of patients were elderly, and suffered severe underlying health problems such as end-stage chronic kidney failure, chemically unresponsive end-stage blood cancer, type 2 diabetes, sepsis, pneumonia, and multi-organ failure.

According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Gia Binh from a consultation and treatment group for severe COVID-19 patients, heath experts are trying their utmost to save the lives of these patients as there is no treatment formula for them. The treatment depends on the actual situation of each patient in order to adjust drug use and clinical and subclinical indications in an appropriate manner, he added.
