COVID-19: Three imported cases raise national total to 1,144

VOV.VN - Vietnam recorded a further three imported case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on October 21, with each of the individuals having recently returned home from Russia and Angola, bringing the national total to 1,144, according to the Ministry of Health.

Among the newly registered patients, one returned from Russia on flight VN5062 on October 16 and was placed into isolation in Ninh Binh province after entering Van Don Airport in Quang Ninh province, and the two remaining cases entered Van Don Airport from Angola on flight VN8 on October 20.

The three fresh cases were confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on October 20, and they are currently under health observation to undergo COVID-19 treatment.

Of the country’s total cases at 1,144, 691 individuals contracted COVID-19 locally, and 453 infections are imported into the nation.

The number of recovered patients has reached 1,046, while the fatality count due to COVID-19 remains at 35. Among those still receiving treatment, 18 have tested negative for COVID-19 at least once, with many testing negative multiple times.

At present, there are nearly 14,000 people who came into close contact with registered cases, or who have recently returned from pandemic-hit regions are under quarantine, including over 160 at hospitals nationwide, with the remainder based at other sites, at home, or at various accommodation facilities.

The country entered the 49th straight day without community transmissions.
