VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health reported on October 20 an Indian woman has been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing Vietnam’s tally of coronavirus infections to 1,141.

The 29-year-old woman took flight 6E9471 from India to Vietnam on October 6 and was quarantined after the plane landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City.

She is the wife of an Indian expert who also took the same flight to Vietnam and later was confirmed to contract the virus.

The woman tested positive on October 19 and is now receiving treatment at HCM City’s Cu Chi field hospital, according to the Ministry of Health.

As of 18.00 October 20 Vietnam has recorded a total of 1,141 locally transmitted and imported coronavirus cases. As many as 1,046 patients have fully recovered from the disease and have been discharged from hospital.

The death toll caused by the disease and related illnesses remains unchanged at 35.

The country has gone through 48 consecutive days without a single new community infection.

However, experts have warned about the possible recurrence of the virus as winter is coming near. They have advised people to continue with preventive measures such as wearing face masks, washing hands with sanitizer and avoiding large gatherings in public.
