COVID-19: Six more cases, one more death recorded
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health confirmed a further six coronavirus cases and one fatality related to COVID-19 on August 10 evening, lifting the overall number of infections to 847 and death toll to 14.
Of the newly detected cases, four cases in the Da Nang outbreak spot, include patients, those having close contact with infected people and a medical worker. One case in the neighbouring province of Quang Nam involves an eight-year-old grandchild of a COVID-19 patient, and one in HCM City entering Tan Son Nhat Airport from the USA on OAE423 flight was immediately put into isolation upon arrival.
The latest decease was a 66-year-old Da Nang resident who was diagnosed with end-stage chronic kidney failure and repeatedly cardiac arrest at Da Nang Hospital.
The causes of his death included COVID-19 acute pneumonia, and end-stage chronic renal failure. August 10 alone saw Vietnam record three fatalities, all from Da Nang hotspot.
With the added cases, the number of patients related to the Da Nang outbreak since July 25 has climbed to 389.
Among those in treatment, nine have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the disease once, and 36 others at least twice.
There are more than 182,260 being put into isolation for health monitoring, including more than 5,130 at hospitals, and the remainder at other medical facilities or at their homes.
The same day, four COVID-19 patients in the Da Nang outbreak were declared to have fully recovered from the disease, showing a recovery rate of 47.1%.
Elsewhere, as many as 624 visitors to Da Nang from Ho Chi Minh City, including more than 50 foreigners, have been tested for the SARS-CoV2-virus in order to ensure that they can fly home.
The tests have all been carried out by health and tourism authorities in the central city on individuals who registered to return to Ho Chi Minh City at the request of the southern city’s Department of Health.
According to Truong Thi Hong Hanh, director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, the test results would be available on August 11. At present, approximately 1,700 visitors, the majority of whom are from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, remain stuck in Da Nang.
The tourists are expected to be able to return home over the course of the next two to three days.
By August 10 evening, the nation registered a total of 847 COVID-19 cases, of which 399 have made a full recovery, while 14 people suffering from underlying heath conditions and COVID-19 have passed away.
