As a result of the latest discharge, the country’s total number of people who have received the all-clear has risen to 233, making up approximately 86% of all positive COVID-19 cases.

The most recent recovery is a 26-year-old Vietnamese man who resides in Ha Tinh province. He was first placed into isolation on March 23 after travelling from Thailand to Vietnam through the Cha Lo border gate in Quang Binh province.

The man subsequently tested positive for the COVID-19 on April 12 and was admitted to the General Hospital at the Cau Treo international border gate area in Ha Tinh a day later.

Doctors noted that the patient has responded positively to therapy and subsequently tested negative for the virus several times, most recently on May 5 and May 6, therefore becoming eligible to be discharged from hospital.

He will now be placed under quarantine at home in order to observe another 14 days of isolation in line with regulations.

The discharge of the man marks the final of four COVID-19 cases in Ha Tinh to be released from hospital, taking the country’s total recoveries to 233.

As of 3pm on May 7, the Ministry of Health has reported a total of 271 COVID-19 patients, with 38 currently being treated, and no deaths so far reported.
