COVID-19 outbreak detected at high school in Ba Ria-Vung Tau

VOV.VN - A COVID-19 outbreak has been reported at Nguyen Binh Khiem High School in Ba Ria–Vung Tau province, with three 12th-grade students testing positive via rapid antigen tests on May 15 and 16.

On May 21, the Ba Ria City Medical Center announced a plan to monitor and respond to the outbreak at the high school located in Long Tam Ward.

According to the center, response measures are being implemented from May 19 to 27 at the school and in three related households in Long Phuoc and Hoa Long communes, and Phuoc Nguyen Ward.

On May 18, immediately after the positive cases were confirmed, health authorities conducted contact tracing and epidemiological investigations at the school and the affected households. Initial findings showed no additional infections beyond the three confirmed cases.

However, screenings of at-risk individuals remain ongoing to ensure thorough containment of the outbreak.

From May 19, disinfection and environmental sanitation have been carried out at the school, the patients’ homes, and surrounding areas. Infected individuals are required to wear masks, self-isolate at home for at least five days, and limit contact with others until 10 days after the onset of symptoms or a positive test result.

Local health workers are maintaining heightened surveillance for eight days, while closely monitoring for any new infections.
