COVID-19: No new cases reported after restrictions lifted

VOV.VN - One day after social distancing measures were relaxed, Vietnam has still reported no new cases of the novel coronavirus.

School children return to school after a long period of staying at home and learning online. Many are happy meeting and chatting with their friends.

Vietnam began easing social distancing measures on April 23 after the coronavirus epidemic had been brought under control, with no new infections recorded during the past seven days, according to the Ministry of Health.

Major coronavirus hotspots, including those at Bach Mai hospital in Hanoi and Buddha Bar in Ho Chi Minh City, have been kept in check to prevent the spread of the deadly virus SARS-CoV-2 that causes the COVID-19 disease among the community.

All localities across the country are no longer in the high-risk group, except for two outlying districts of Hanoi and one district of Ha Giang province.

As a result of the loosening of social distancing measures, several services such as public transportation and food catering returned to normal. Transport companies increased the frequency of aircraft, trains and buses. Schools reopened doors to students after a long period of staying at home and learning online.

However, residents are still required to follow medical recommendations, including wearing face masks, limiting contacts and travel, and maintaining a safe distance in public places, while using hand sanitizer or washing hands with soap and water frequently.

They are also advised to fill out a medical declaration form and check body temperature every day.

Currently, 44 active coronavirus patients are receiving treatment at seven health facilities. Most of them are in stable health condition. More than ten of them have tested negative for the virus at least once.

More than 68,000 people are being quarantined for observation, including 18,000 people in concentrated quarantine camps, 369 in hospitals and the remainder in places of residence.
