COVID-19: No more cases reported on July 28 morning

VOV.VN - No more coronavirus cases in Vietnam have been detected during the past 12 hours after 11 cases were announced on July 27, according to the Ministry of Health in its July 28 morning update.

Doctors are closely monitoring newly confirmed cases at Da Nang Hospital, a coronavirus hotspot in central Vietnam.

Two of the patients are in critical condition and they both are on ventilators due to respiratory failure, according doctors.   

In addition, one patient is undergoing the extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), a life support machine.

Doctors are considering giving the ECMO therapy to the other patient who suffers hypertension and diabetes (type II).

Da Nang hospital has become a coronavirus hotspot in Vietnam after 11 COVID-11 patients, including four medical workers, were discovered on July 27 there.

On July 25-26 Vietnam announced three cases in Da Nang city and one case in Quang Ngai province. These were first locally transmitted infections after Vietnam had controlled the disease for 99 consecutive days. 

Vietnam has recorded 431 coronavirus cases since the first infection was detected in January 2020. No deaths have been reported.

A total of 365 patients have since recovered and have been discharged from hospital.

Of the remaining 66 cases, five patients have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
