COVID-19: Nine more imported cases bring national tally to 1,474

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health on January 1 confirmed an additional nine cases of COVID-19 imported into Vietnam, pushing the national infection tally to 1,474.

The newly detected patients, all Vietnamese, returned the nation from Russia, Germany and Canada. They were put into isolation upon entry and are currently being under health observation for COVID-19 treatment after their test results came back positive for the virus.

Of the country’s total infections, 693 are locally transmitted cases, and 781 are imported cases.

Among the patients still under treatment, 28 have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at least once, or several times.

At present, the number of people coming into close contact with confirmed cases, or returning from pandemic-hit regions under health monitoring stands at more than 17,170, including 150 at hospitals nationwide, with the remainder based at other sites, at home, or at different accommodation facilities.

The Ministry of Health warned that although the pandemic has been brought under basic control, risks of COVID-19 transmission still exist, especially when there will be more repatriation flights in the coming time.
