COVID-19: National tally hits 1,203 after one imported case confirmed

VOV.VN - An Israeli expert has become Vietnam's latest COVID-19 patient, taking the overall number of coronavirus infections to 1,203, the Health Ministry reported on November 4.

The 60 year- old male patient entered Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi from Qatar on flight QR976On October 31, 2020, and was quarantined in Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi immediately after entry.

His sample was taken on November 2, 2020, and then was confirmed to carry the SARS-CoV-2 virus one day later by the Center for Disease Control in Hanoi. Currently, he is currently placed into isolation to receive treatment at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi's Dong Anh district.

With the new infection, the nation’s total COVID-19 cases climbed to 1,203, of which 691 are locally transmitted cases, and 515 cases are imported and placed into isolation immediately upon arrival.

There are more than 15,260 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or entered Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions are being quarantined nationwide, including over 198 at hospitals, and the remainder at concentrated quarantine establishments and at home.

Among the active patients in treatment, 17 tested negative for SAR-CoV-2 once, 6 twice and 5 three times.

Notably, as many 1,069 patients have successfully recovered from the virus, while the death toll remained unchanged at 35.

The nation has gone more than two months without recording any single local case of COVID-19.
