COVID-19: National count hits 1,210 after three imported cases recorded
VOV.VN - The overall number of coronavirus infections in Vietnam rose to 1,210 after an Indian expert and two Vietnamese returnees from Japan were confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Health Ministry said on November 6.
The new patient from India transited Yangon Airport, Myanmar, then entered Cam Ranh Airport on October 22on flight 8M202 and was isolated in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province. His first test result on October 23 was negative, and his second test result on November 5 at Nha Trang Pasteur Institute came back positive for SARS-CoV-2.
The two remaining patients entered Cam Ranh Airport on flight VJ8650 from Japan and their test results were confirmed positive for the virus by by the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute on November 5.
Currently, the three new patients are put in quarantine to undergo treatment at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases of Khanh Hoa province.
With the new infections, the national tally now increases to 1,210, of which 691 are locally transmitted cases, and 519 cases are imported and placed into isolation immediately upon arrival.
There are more than 14,060 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or entered Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions are being quarantined nationwide, including over 200 at hospitals, and the remainder at concentrated quarantine establishments and at home.
Among the active patients in treatment, 18 tested negative for SAR-CoV-2 once, 67 twice and 5 three times.
Notably, as many 1,069 patients have successfully recovered from the virus, while the death toll remained unchanged at 35.
The nation has entered the 65th day without recording any single case of COVID-19.
